We bring theatre to you! A technically equipped mobile stage that transports engaging and innovative professional theatre to audiences anywhere. We perform in a variety of settings including private events, school yards, public parks, and more. Our performances are geared for all ages.

Our History
Founded in 2008 as “A new twist on drive-in theatre,” The Virginia Theatre Machine started as a custom-built mobile stage designed to transport innovative professional theatre and puppetry to audiences anywhere a 2,000lb trailer could be embedded. From 2008- 2023 the VTM created 14 original productions and performed outside for a total of 388 performances to a combined audience of 45,000-50,000. Ages 6-96. Today the Virginia Theatre Machine offers performances on its mobile outdoor stage, while also bringing puppetry and full-length theatrical works to a variety of inside spaces: community centers, schools, assisted living facilities, and even your living room!
